Fran Lee
Frances Lee grew up with the echoes of Jazz and Blues musicians around her as the daughter of Dave Lee, former Fylde Coast Jazzman member.

After a few years of life's ripening, musical experimentation and access to a great record collection she developed a niche to soulfully interpret Jazz and Blues Songs old and new.
After repeated comments around her 'blues' sound she took note and was introduced to the talented Shakers Boys - the blue shoe seemed to fit and the blues have been brewin ever since!

John Carroll
John is a proud Mancunian and has been playing blues guitar for well over 25 years. He is equally at home screaming out solos on an electric or fingerpicking unaccompanied delta blues on an acoustic.

"I first started listening to blues music from old Lightnin' Hopkins records that my dad acquired from his time in the army working with American soldiers in Germany. From a very early age the music had me captivated and as anybody hooked by the blues will tell you - there's no going back!"

His musical influences span all generations and styles of Blues, from Leadbelly, Robert Johnson, Blind Blake and Big Bill Broonzy - right through to Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Hendrix and Eric Clapton and all these influences can be readily heard in his playing.

He has also taught the guitar to aspiring blues players - some of whom are now in successful bands themselves.

John Treece
John is a young guitar player and singer with a very bright future ahead of him. With a love of the blues, and with a bit of Hendrix thrown in for good measure, he is fast becoming an excellent blues musician.

Jim Wheeler
Jim is a blues bassist second to none. With a wealth of experience to draw on, Jim can play anything, anytime, anywhere and always with a smile (and a beer)!
His career has spanned several decades and during this time he has played with many bands. He has even played with the rolling stones when one of the band members was "otherwise engaged" (whatever that means)!!
Jim is also the bassist in the fantastic Nick Dowe's Blues Band.

Phil Marlow
Phil was born Preston and has a family full of musicians going back years. His dad was a former club singer and both his brothers are guitarists in bands in Manchester and Preston.
Phil has always been a blues fan but can adapt to rock and jazz. His drumming influences are Stewart Copeland (the Police) and Gene Krupa (swing and jazz drummer). Phils is the quiet one of the band who lets the sticks do the talking! He has been in several bands within the North West before forming the The Shakers with JC and Franny in March 2009.
Hobbies include smoking fags and playing the blues! (Usually at the same time)..

Mainly I've always played acoustic guitar and I sung, but I've developed a passion for slide guitar which I'm playing more and more of now, it's become a bit of an obsession to be honest which is going to continue forever I think haha!
I really feel like I've found my thing with it, but infact I've found my thing with every kind of music I play in general, it's in my soul; it's what I was born and plan to do for the rest of my life.
I have just recorded my 10 track demo which you can hear samples from 4 tracks of on here, and I'm hoping that when it's packaged I will be able to sell it too, so keep checking up on here for details of that.
I also play electric guitar with a fondness for chicago style blues, and am planning to do something with that soon so keep your ears open!
Ahh,, I just want to play music ya know?
It's all I want to do.
I'm extremely passionate about it and performing.

I sang for the first time properly when I was in primary school and I got the lead role in my school's Christmas production of "Babooshka". I absolutely adored being on stage and singing to people. I think there's not a day gone by when I haven't sung since!

I started playing guitar about four years ago when my Uncle Chris died. The acoustic guitar I own was his - he played accordian and was learning guitar. When they cleared out his stuff, they found it and a load of music books. When asked if I wanted it, I said yes straight away and taught myself to play to keep his memory alive. It was my way of making a good thing out of a bad situation.
I took to it quickly and soon was jamming every day, and I've never looked back. Because of his death I learnt to play and I developed an overwhelming passion for music like I'd never had before.
He made music a part of me and for that I owe him a
lot.
